What is PRINCE2®?
PRINCE2 (PRojects In Controlled Environments) is a project management methodology first established in 1989 by CCTA (the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency, now called the Office of Government Commerce) – in the UK, revised in consultation with users and project management experts and launched in 1996 as PRINCE2.
It is updated regularly to reflect the current practices around the world and changing dimension of project management. The current version is PRINCE2 2017 – launched in June 2017.
Can PRINCE2 be used for any type of project or is it only for IT?
Because PRINCE2 is a management methodology it may be used in any type of project, not just IT. Insights has trained project managers from all industries and sectors including banking, insurance, emergency services, petro-chemical, building & construction, electronics and media. Oh, yes…IT as well.

So far in 2017 Insights pass rates are – Foundation 99.8% – Rest of the UK – 96.7%
Practitioner – 87.6% – Rest of the UK 79.5%
We are so sure of our training that we offer a free re-course for any student failing the Practitioner exam after taking the full Foundation and Practitioner courses with us.
PRINCE2 seems very big for use on a project, do I have to use it all?
PRINCE2 is fully tailorable – in fact it is one of the seven Principles that the framework is tailored to the project environment. You can use as much or as little of the PRINCE2 processes and PRINCE2 Themes as you need on your project, but there are increased risks incurred; as long as the project supports the seven Principles and the minimum requirements are met then you are using PRINCE2.
How much does it cost to use PRINCE2, are there any licence fees?
Nothing! PRINCE2 is in the public domain, so once you have the knowledge the rest is up to you.
