MSP® Foundation Course
For: Programme Managers & members of Programme Management Board
With: Responsibility for management of programmes
Duration: Two days or three if separate exam day
Summary
Delegates will gain sufficient knowledge and experience in the processes and principles of
Programme Management (MSP) to act as a Programme Manager for a programme with a coherent
project portfolio or to act as a member of a Programme Support Office. You will have an
opportunity to sit the APMG MSP Foundation exam and to prepare for the Practitioner &
Practitioner Advanced exams.
Educational Objectives
Following the completion of the course participants will be able to:
- Describe and apply all facets of the programme processes, in accordance with the
MSP method
- Set up and manage complex programmes
- Identify and control risk
- Monitor the objectives of a programme and the essential adjustments needed to
respond to changes in the environment

Prerequisites
Project Management experience or Project Board experience is required. Some pre-course material is provided which should be fully read and understood before the course start. This is an intensive course and some evening work will be required during the course.
The Examination
The MSP Foundation examination is a 40 minute 50 multiple choice question paper. Currently
the pass mark is 50% but, following a recent decision by the APMG, as from
1 September 2008 this will be raised to 60%.
Managing Successful Programmes describes the framework and strategies of Programme
Management. Programme Management is an integral part of OGC's Best Practice
portfolio.
Please note that the APM Group require every candidate's identification to be verified by the examination invigilator. You will be required to produce some photographic identification before being allowed to take the exam.
