FAQs
What is PRINCE2?
PRINCE2 (PRojects In Controlled Environments) is a project management methodology first established in 1989 by CCTA (the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency, now called the Office of Government Commerce) – in the UK, revised in consultation with users and project management experts and launched in 1996 as PRINCE2. (see this page for more detailed information)
Can PRINCE2 be used for any type of project or is it only for IT?
Because PRINCE2 is a management methodology it may be used in any type of project, not just IT. Insights has trained project managers from all industries and sectors including banking, insurance, emergency services, petro-chemical, building & construction, electronics and media. Oh, yes...IT as well.
What are your pass rates?
We
are proud to say that our official pass rates (as published by the APMG) are consistantly above the national average for both PRINCE2 Foundation and PRINCE2 Practitioner. We are so sure of our training that we offer a free re-course for any student failing the Practitioner exam after taking the full Foundation and Practitioner courses with us.
PRINCE2 seems very big for use on a small project, do I have to use it all?
You can use as much or as little of the PRINCE processes as you need on your project, but there are increased risks incurred; as long as you know the risks and document them in the risk log, you can leave certain parts out.
How much does it cost to use PRINCE2, are there any licence fees?
Nothing! PRINCE2 is in the public domain, so once you have the knowledge the rest is up to you.
